So I heard from my donor again, and he tells me it'll take about 1-2 months to complete the rest of his tests. However, he already did most of those tests, and he passed, and he's still in good health, so it looks VERY good.
That means, most likely, my transplant will be in about 2-3 months.
Just thought I'd let you know.
That'll be around Easter. Hmmmmm.....I thought I visualized a Christmas transplant. My visualization skills must need a little sharpening.
Oh well. At least it'll be before my birthday (June 16).
I hope my arm gets better, though!! I sure hope having this graft doesn't mean it's permanently swollen!!!!!!!!
Note: if you ever see me in person, PLEASE do NOT look at my right arm!!!! Otherwise, you'll notice that my appearance has been marred!!! If you just don't look at my right arm, I'll have all the good looks you'd have noticed otherwise...if that makes any sense.
Thanks for understanding.

Hi Vickylou ~ got to your blog via Bill Peckham's... and read your last three posts. It looks like you are on the trail to a new kidney and that is wonderful!
I am curious about why your docs gave you a graft instead of a fistula. I have had a fistula for four years now and had no problems with it at all. You will get used to the needle sticks... I recommend getting beyond using liticain (deadener) as soon as you can, since that'll lessen your needle sticks from 4 to 2 per session. I find that if I use my own had to tournequet myself, I can squeeze myself had enough that the stick doesn't bother me.
I read with awe your finding a donor... I've been looking for several years and had a couple of nibbles... but no matches. My wife and I are encouraging our transplant program to start doing "paired exchanges", which would up my chances... but they say it is too much added work to start this sort of program.
Anyway, good luck to you and stay on the bright side! JN
